“Not all are called to be artists in the specific sense of the term. Yes, as Genesis has it, all men and women are entrusted with the task of crafting their own life: in a certain sense, they are to make of it a work of art.”
Karol Wojtyla, (St. John Paul II)
We speak so much about the beauty of things: music, art, architecture, the experience of an event or show. There is a quote that I love to revisit from St. Augustine: “Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motions of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering.”
We are an encounter of beauty, and we are also an encounter of “Beauty.” God radiates His life and holiness through us and therefore we are beautiful and an encounter of Beauty. People can encounter the Lord through the many expressions of beauty that are provide whether it’s the arts or experiences, but the one that will make the most impact is the beauty they encounter in us as sons and daughters of the Most High. It makes me (and us) wonder and think, what am I doing right now that radiates the splendor and holiness of the Lord. How is beauty informing my life and how am I inviting it into the life I live and how does that impact those around me and draw them closer not to me who has a glimmer of beauty, but to Beauty Incarnate?
I would like to formally invite you to consider joining the Guild of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus as an inducted member and help us fulfill our mission to foster expressions of Beauty in the world we live so as to draw others to encounter Beauty Incarnate. If this is something that interests you, please email [email protected] and we can set up a time to learn about what it means to be a member and what the process is to join. There is no cost and there is no pressure. We rely on mutual discernment to see where God is calling you.
In the meantime, join us for our All Guilds Mass with the Bishop on Saturday morning, March 29th followed by brunch. Membership not required, invite the family! Also, check out some of our upcoming events that foster beauty and “Beauty”! Keep us in prayer as we continue to hold you up in prayer!

Speaking of the beauty of the human person… this talk will be awesome!

Young Juilliard trained musicians who have partnered with us before are having a concert at St. Mary’s in Norwalk. The violin emerged as a virtuosic instrument in 17th century Italy, but its popularity quickly spread throughout Europe thanks to itinerant musicians. As the instrument found its way to the British Isles, an exciting fusion of sounds combined Italian virtuosity and traditional music. This program includes works by Corelli, Matteis, and Playford.
